Accent Housing Helps Resident Save Tenancy Through Financial Support

At Accent Housing, we are here to support our customers through tough times, helping them stay in their homes. Our team works hard to make sure residents get the financial support they need. A recent success story from Bradford shows how we help people when they need it most.

Facing Financial Struggles

One of our customers, who had lived in her home for 27 years, fell behind on rent payments in 2021. Even though we tried to help, her arrears became too high, and legal action had to be taken. However, during this process, she made great efforts to get back on track. Seeing this, our team arranged a Tenancy Rescue Visit to see how we could assist her further.

How We Helped

During our visit, the customer explained that she was struggling with the cost of living, high utility bills, and fewer work hours. We knew she needed urgent support, so we acted straight away. Our team contacted Yorkshire Water’s Partnership Hotline and got her into their 'Water Support' and 'Resolve' schemes, saving her around £1,200 on her bills.

We also referred her to our Inclusion Team to see if she could get more financial help.

A Positive Outcome

With our support and her hard work, the customer is now up to date with her rent payments. She managed this by working extra hours, getting help from her family, and reducing her utility costs.

Grateful for the help, she said: "I would like to thank you kindly for your help in sorting out my rent and water bill. I very much appreciate all you’ve done for me and my family.”

This story is a great example of how Accent Housing is committed to helping customers through financial difficulties. We will always do our best to help residents stay in their homes and improve their financial situation.
