Reports of Criminal Activity

Reports of Anti-social behaviour at Addington Court have reduced recently but youths are still being reported in the blocks from time to time. This is being reported to Nottinghamshire Police who are visiting the area regularly. If they are seen, they will be moved on.

Please be vigilant, ensure personal items are kept securely inside your properties, and double-check that all vehicles are locked.

Fortnightly Visits

I continue to visit Addington Court on a fortnightly basis to actively work in the area and address residents' concerns as they arise.

Addressing Anti-Social Behaviour

I am working closely with Rushcliffe Borough Council and Nottinghamshire Police to identify anti-social behaviour issues early and take a proactive approach during property allocations.

Grounds Maintenance

MalcFirth will continue visiting fortnightly from March to October to perform grounds maintenance.

Recent weather has caused rapid growth in green areas. If specific areas require additional attention, such as harder pruning, please get in touch.

Enhanced Security Measures

The five blocks of flats on the estate have had additional security fitted to their communal front doors to prevent trespassing. Please ensure all 'night latch' locks are secure at the end of each day, if not throughout the entire day. 

Resident Reminder

It is essential to ensure these doors are properly secured when entering or exiting the buildings to prevent unauthorised access.

Planned Maintenance – Velux Window Replacements

Scaffolding is expected to be erected during the week commencing 11th November 2024 to begin planned maintenance work for the replacement of Velux windows throughout the scheme.

Dog Safety in Communal Areas

In November, a contractor working for Ian Williams was bitten by a dog while entering a communal area. Although the dog was on a lead, it should have been muzzled to prevent incidents like this.

Please ensure that all dogs are correctly supervised and, if required, muzzled in communal areas to avoid any accidents.

Porch Area Reminder

Please ensure that any porch areas outside your flats are kept clear and tidy to prevent potential hazards or obstructions in the event of a fire. Thank you for your cooperation.

Damp & Mould Reporting

If you are experiencing damp or mould issues within your property, please report them to Accent’s Technical Hub at 0345 678 0555 (Option 1) to discuss further with a trained representative or surveyor.

Noise-Related Anti-Social Behaviour

If you are experiencing persistent noise-related anti-social behaviour that is affecting your ability to enjoy your home peacefully, please notify Accent and consider also speaking with Broxtowe Council’s Environmental Health Team.

The council has additional powers that Accent does not, and both agencies can work together to address the issue effectively.

Reporting Anti-Social Behaviour

If you continue to experience any issues related to anti-social behaviour, or any other concerns, please ensure that you report them to Accent as soon as possible.

Fly-Tipping Warning

Fly-tipping has been discovered in and behind the bin stores recently. While Accent is responsible for clearing this, if it continues to be a regular occurrence, service charges for 2024/25 may need to be increased to cover the cost.

Please ensure that all waste is disposed of correctly to avoid additional charges.

Scheme Improvements

On the 5th March 2025 MalcFirth will be visiting to dig out and place old shrubs at the entrance to the car park at Kayes Court. All residents have been notified by email. This work should last 1-2 days in total.

Security Reminder – Block Doors

Nottinghamshire Police have recently informed Accent that homeless individuals have been seen in the area. To prevent anyone from using the communal spaces for shelter, it is essential that all block doors are securely closed at night.

This is the responsibility of all residents of Longthorpe Court—please ensure doors remain locked to maintain security.

Planned Maintenance – Door Replacements

As part of this year’s Planned Maintenance Programme, the communal front and rear doors to each block will be replaced. Surveys have already taken place, and work is expected to commence around March/April 2025.

If you witness fly-tipping taking place and are happy to report it, please do so. All reports will be handled in strict confidence.

Car Park Restoration

Accent are still working with our contract Ian Williams in an attempt to remove the container in the car park. 

Neighbourhood Policing Team Presence

The Stapleford Neighbourhood Policing Team is conducting regular daily and weekly visits in the area. If you have any concerns about suspicious activity, please reach out to them.

Weekly Visits

I am also visiting on a weekly basis and aim to engage with as many residents as possible during my visits.

Scheme Improvements

On the last week of March 2025 MalcFirth will be visiting to renovate the areas to the front of each block. Removing old shrubs and re-membrane the areas, and adding gravel to brighten up the area. This work should last between 2-3 days.

Area Improvements

Coming into April-May 2025, Accent are looking to purchase flower pots/raised beds to improve the front of the estate where the bushes were removed. If this is something residents are interested in and willing to assist with maintaining, please let us know.

Cannabis Concerns – Rayner Court

As the Housing Partner responsible for Rayner Court, I make an effort to visit the estate fortnightly to address any concerns that residents may be experiencing.

Recently, concerns have been raised about cannabis consumption in the area. Both Nottinghamshire Police and Accent visit at various times throughout the day to observe and gather evidence about the issue.

Waste Disposal Reminder

Please dispose of your waste correctly. During a recent visit, I observed piles of rubbish appearing around the area.

Accent has an obligation to clear fly-tipping, but if this becomes a regular occurrence, service charges will need to be increased in the next financial year to cover the additional costs.
